Scientists and Engineers work with Metro to provide a functional new workspace for the UK’s Transport Research Laboratory. Metro Design, renowned for designing and building creative work space assignments, has worked with scientists and engineers at the UK’s Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) in Berkshire to create a business environment that meets the organisation’s specialist needs. The company was appointed to create a functional and efficient space that accommodates the usual working needs of a corporate company and also the practical and theoretical elements of the scientific research and vehicle testing that takes place within the building. Metro liaised with the 550 members of staff, of which more than half are scientists and engineers, to ensure that the new offices, laboratories and demonstration centres were right and that the transition was open and egalitarian, in line with the TRL’s guiding principle.

TRL is a globally acclaimed centre of excellence conducting research and consultation on transport issues for a number of clients worldwide, ranging from governments to private sector manufacturers. The organisation’s most famous work includes investigations into the stability and safety aspects of vehicles, which are tested under extreme conditions.
